The works involved the construction of a new building formed around the restored remains of a fire damaged category A listed monument to Robert Burns.

The Burns Monument Centre comprises a marriage suite / conference facilities for up to 85 people, climate controlled library archive storage and genealogy research rooms and includes new car parking, lighting and upgrading of access roadway.

The building is faced on all elevations with Locharbriggs red sandstone and detailing, has a copper standing seam roofs and is fully air conditioned.

Works started on site in March 2007 and completion was achieved in March 2009.
