Welcoming Matt Abbott

Welcoming Matt Abbott

Brown + Wallace are excited to welcome our latest member of team B+W.

Matt Abbott joins us as a member of our Management Team in the role of Associate Partner and will be operating out of our Glasgow City Centre Office. Matt will be leading a number of Quantity Surveying and Employers Agent commissions for existing clients and contributing to the growth and expansion of the services offered by Brown + Wallace

Matt will be a familiar face to many as he actually started his career with Brown + Wallace almost 25 years ago, so we are delighted to have him back once more. Matt studied at Glasgow Caledonian University and didn’t waste any time thereafter in achieving Chartered Membership of the RICS. After 16 years with the business working on a range of education, residential, commercial and community projects, Matt then left the company to pursue other opportunities. Working initially out in the Middle East in the Sultanate of Oman delivering a 4 and a 5-star hotel for a Government Client and then back in Scotland delivering a range of healthcare and tertiary education projects.

Fast forward 7 years and he has vibrantly and seamlessly fitted back within our team bringing new project and contract experience to augment the capabilities of the business.

Also a qualified RICS APC Assessor, Matt takes a lead role and keen interest in developing talent and supporting candidates through Brown + Wallace’s structured training programme. Check out our current vacancies in our Quantity Surveying and Building Surveying Departments.

When asked about his new role Matt had this to say:-

After beginning my career at B+W it was one of the hardest decisions I ever made to leave back in 2015. Brown + Wallace always held a special place in my heart and I was delighted to be offered the chance to return. I guess like many of us the pandemic caused me to rethink my career plans and a return to Brown + Wallace much older, greyer and maybe a little bit wiser was never far from my thoughts. As we are hopefully all a bit more optimistic about what the future holds its great to re-establish relationships with old friends, colleagues and clients and forge new ones for this next chapter.
